Graphic design, branding and point-of-sale for Clarks' children's brand CICA by Gibson, London

Design and branding for Clarks


The sports shoe trend was still spreading but Clarks weren't seeing a large enough share. The graphic design and branding for CICA, their children's sports brand, needed to get in shape. 

We set about writing and designing a vivid hexachrome brochure and a range of point-of-sale material that appealed to kids and their parents. It was a funky design (with some cool stickers on the wraparound cover) but it preserved all the traditional Clarks principles of fit and comfort.

We also added a 'Design-your-own-trainer' competition that generated entries by the sackload. The winning designers had their shoes manufactured and presented to them by Clarks. Quite a thrill – when you're just eight years old.

CICA brand sales rose by 15% that year and Clarks came back for more of our ideas on branding, advertising and graphics.
